The studio can be great or can be scary.
Keeping the post-edition in the computer aside, the REC button seems to put everybody in their place.
I will start with these two samples, drumming in thiese cases but it can be with other aspects of the recording process like guitars, producing...They all can be fascinating.

The most amazing thing about the Simon clip is how close the sound is to the final mix on the record. That track has been on my playlists for many years and the sound from a home video recording at the pre-mix while it's being recorded is amazingly close. It's all in the recording proccess, folks, mixing is secondary.

What is most amazing to me is the number of microphones on the drums. Granted, they may not be using them all simultaneously, but if they are, holy comb-filter nightmare Batman! That is quite the feat right there, let alone the actual performance and results.

I remember somewhat reluctantly listening to The Corrs at a (girl) friends' house back when it came out. She was about about to skip 'Toss The Feathers' but I had heard about 2 bars of drumming
and said, "now, wait a minute!".... LOL it had Simon all over it and I love him for that. Loved him before, loved him after hearing that. Love him.

We did a live recording to Pro Tools from an SC48 at our last theatre gig. It was mixed and cleaned up by a great guy with an unreal set of ears, and stories for literally years, Glenn Brown here in East Lansing. He does Greensky Bluegrass' live mixes. He was able to hear stuff and get to it so quickly, I watched what he was doing and couldn't follow most of it.

I was flattered when he said he had to do very little to the drums!
