Mid-Week BLAST

Postby Pocketplayer » Tue Nov 17, 2015 10:23 am

It just don't get better than this!

Been really watching and getting into the feel of these 70's rock drummers who grew
up in the 50's and 60's blasting big band music, jazz and this new thing called rock.
Their feel is beautiful and set-up so ergonomically sensible. I love the drum sound.
For some reason I keep thinking about the Munster's theme song and how drummer
ends the tune with that snare hit...the sound was perfect!

Original version...note the snare pop at the end at 4:55 (PERFECT SOUND)...toms sounded
so pure...LOVE this drumming Hal Blaine ???

Then there was this theme that hit me as a kid...those fills were killer!
...love those tubular toms at the very beginning. Season 2 had a better theme...drummer
played out more. Those bass drum hits were beautiful. Earl Palmer ???

Lastly, the end of this tune I dug! Great tom fills. Cubby O'Brien ???

This just kicked major arse...I stayed up just to hear the intro and had to go to bed!

Also, the babe at 0:29 was motivation

Focus!!! One my all time favorites. Pierre Van Der Linden is amazing! Love those Premier drum sounds too. And what about Jan Akkerman? Monster!

I love those old themes, lots of great library music created by KPM and others. Those composers were really amazing. You could spend days going through youtube...not that I have!

I can't get enough of this record, such great melodies and arrangements, something new with each listen. It can't be said enough, pop music has taken a drastic turn for the worst, and we've ended up with the dumbest hip hop crap, written for idiots. Guess we reap what we sow...

Some killer Newmark on this album.

Here is us playing some of Roger's music on Nov 7th. Another weird show where my time felt odd at points in the night, but it didn't sound too bad afterwards.

We used these risers that attempt to decouple instruments from the stage. In this venue, the stage is not solid, so it can resonate. They worked pretty good, and we also used a screen. I felt a little disconnected from everyone else. Not a huge fan, but it helps the rest of the guys.It could have impacted my feel, we didn't practice with them, but did use them on a smaller stage a couple months ago. And we used a new sound provider, he had a killer rig. Every show is like this, we would love to have consistency, but we have a ways to go to improve.
