I wonder whats going on legally with Journey.

Meanwhile Deen continues to blow me away with his vocals!

Deen sounds awesome..... and I love his playing on these tunes. Any word on why Journey didn't ask him back in?
He looks great here.

At this point I prefer this smaller project over Journey. Ross Valory has the stage presence of a (thing with not much stage presence) and I'm a fan of Marco Mendoza. Plus Deen's energy and vocals fit better than Steve's super-proper technical approach. The whole thing seems more "Rock'N Roll" for some reason.

That gig was last year some time...it was a point where the Journey machine
was breaking apart...first with Cain's evangelical charismatic wife and the White
House which Neil loathed...NO politics...enter old member Greg Rollie and the
old school sound...and Greg had it with Perry and touring in 1979 when he bailed...
Deen has been rehabbing off a horrible drug domestic violence charge...something
easily to end a career in today's culture...but Neil invited him back and his talent
is obvious to all...add the vocals and it's crazy the drummer of Journey sounds
JUST like one of the most signature voices in rock history. He saved Steve
Augeri (the first singer to replace Perry and underappreciated...no Augeri, no
Journey revival and he killed it imo). Deen would sing 4-6 songs before Augeri
had to call it a day due to vocal strain...irony is Perry cannot do Perry anymore...
in a word: AGE...happens to them all.

In the end, Neil is in pure joy on this gig...Rollie is his brother from Santana...
this has got to be special for him and he loves the older tunes...especially off
the first three LP's which even for hard core Journey fans usually unknown.

Deen's a great guy...everyone loves him...he just cannot do drugs or drink!
If he ever got back with Journey, he needs a roadie w/12 Step skills and constant
accountability...he's a risk factor on tour. Usually, on tour isn't the issue, it is
when the party train stops...ran into a well known drummer for a even more
well known guitarist...he was in AA...it wasn't on tour, as soon as he got off
he drank like a fish (if fish really drank)...

I think it is ironic that The Tubes biggest hits are with Steve Lukather on guitar
Talk to Ya Later & She's a Beauty.

And more importantly, with DAVID FOSTER producing.
Like him or not, the guy knows-knew (I don't know what he's done lately) how to craft a hit record.
I like all the Tubes records, but I LOVE those two records!!!

I also love how they slipped "Tip of My Tongue" in there. Read the lyrics. A nice little harmless Earth Wind and Fire tune, with lyrics about (I'll keep it clean) oral sex. Pretty funny.

Speaking of Prarie Prince, if you want to hear a crazy record, check out "The Mistakes." Mike Kennealy, Henry Kaiser, Andy West, and Prarie Prince. As you might imagine, it's pretty wacky.

I think the whole Journey is interesting - did Steve and Ross really try to take legal control over Nightmare Productions (and Journey)?

If they did how and how were they caught?

Those records are great, but Love Bomb is insanely delicious! It may not have sold as much, but after a couple listens you will be hooked. Todd Rundgren is a genius.

If you want to read endless speculation as to why all of this happened, this thread has lots of it.

I think this all was a way to get some pub and Ross and Smith were just trying to get out, Journey attracts drama. But, that could be wrong. Maybe they were concerned that JTT was a legit threat to replacing Journey and decided to take action...there always seems to be some level of FUD around Journey promotion.
