One thing I really respect Steve for is I can't think of a time he trashed Journey...
he speaks with a gentle tone knowing that band's drama like most...
Guy just moves on...dude got wisdom...one aspect of practice that really
hit me is doing so when you DONT feel like it...which is prep for touring...
develop a discipline routine and stick with it...simple, but...

Heard this on Sirius today. He had the same voice and vocabulary he did with the Ponty music, but all the 32s, most 16ths and ghost notes stripped away. Man, was just digging all the fills, and the ending section. So damned solid.

"So damned solid."

That pretty sums it all for me...yet he was NOT a rock drummer but this pocket
is so SOLID...Smith was the Peter Sellers of drumming here...

Smith was a BEAST...this is just a crazy tight groove!
How could a guy be this good when he wasn't really
a rock drummer? Mindblowing...
