Those records are great, but
Love Bomb is insanely delicious! It may not have sold as much, but after a couple listens you will be hooked. Todd Rundgren is a genius.
I like Genius Of America, it's REALLY good, but I'll check out Love Bomb. I was surprised they brought Todd back because the first one they did together didn't do much from what I remember, but yeah Todd's a great producer. But the David Foster stuff is basically pop perfection.

I've never liked a single album or even tune of theirs. Boring beyond belief.

Old school VI when they started was more rock-oriented and Steve was hitting pretty hard.

The first album in 1983 self titled. Global Beat. Fiafiaga. Those are fun VI albums. If those albums are boring beyond belief they wouldn’t have any successes. Not the case huh. Decades later they are still around. I don’t dig the albums they put out the past 10 years tho. They play and write jazz oriented music. The rock jazz took a back seat a long time ago. Still great music. Lots of our favorite drummers are in their 60’s now. Hopefully they are still killing it in their 70’s!

I don't think that logic holds up. There are many things I personally find boring, which are great successes.

Their first two records were really great, but after that, it was hit or miss.
Future PrimitiveQuestionable ArrivalsNone of it is available on YouTube. Probably on Spotify, Pandora or Apple music I would assume.

Fiafiaga was a favorite back in the day, it gots tons play! Funny, I was thinking of John McGlaughlin with Trilok at the Royal Festival Hall this morning, same bass player on Fiafiaga. Kai Ekhart (I'm butchering these spellings probably).
We saw Steve with VI on the Easier done than said CD in Philadelphia in the early 90's. What a great time driving there and seeing them. Chatted them up a little, too. Super nice guys.
There's a phrase on the Perfect Date drum solo that I still use a lot these days actually.
