Deen will be back next year. Makes a good story, and Steve, while he sounds amazing, is not the multi-lateral force Deen is.

Journey is a machine, it's going to keep rolling until they can't do it any longer.

Perry: 1977-1987, 1995-1998

Arnel: 2007-present

Perry 1995-1998 produced one LP and no tour. Those are not active years. He basically
got together and quickly pumped out Trial by Fire and left. Hurt or not, he was not
actively singing. Arnel has sung longer at this point continuously.

One of Smith's best grooves.

Going to see them Thursday at Pine Knob. Looking forward to the show, it's going to be a fun evening.

Went to catch Journey at Pine Knob last night. Really fun show. Steve played powerfully, and the solo was really a highlight, he added a little hot sauce.

I have a few critiques, like selecting "jazz" ride cymbals in this context, but I still have the music going through my head and the grooves were there, Arnel was hitting it. Everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun.

WOW...that tune above is from the vault! I really liked his snare
from this era.

Glad you had a good time. Pretty amazing they can still bring it after all
these years. I keep thinking the experiment was out back in the 70's...
what will happen to rock musicians when they get old? Some of them are
surprising us all! Schon is a workhorse! Dude's been grinding on the road
since he was a kid. Why some hotel chain doesn't use musicians in their ads
stuns me...

They packed Pine Knob, must have had 30K at least. Crowd was having a great time. It will be a shame when shows like this aren't around any longer. Ross Valory said they did three nights out there in 81.

Went for free as well. A friend got lawn seats, I didn't meet up with him at the show, he wasn't concerned about getting paid. But then snuck into the pavilion, sat far back, then a friend of a friend shows up out of nowhere and he has an extra row Y.

Didn't even buy a beer! Doobie Brothers also brought the heat, those guys were into it.

There's some great Smith playing on Departure. It's got a bit of that Montrose playing sprinkled in.

Yeah, Schon is such a great player. He had some really nice solos last night.
