Please Judge my recording (once again)

Postby sejuba » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:30 am

Hi everyone,

I´ve been studying a little about something called Parallel compression so I recorded a groove
and later on applied what I learned. Basically, what I did was mix my kit dry (no compression)
with a compressed version of it. Some of what you´ll hear is my snare, the rest
has been blended (never 100% though) with samples. I think I´m getting the hang of it because it sounds
way more natural from my previous attempts. Anyway, you guys be the judge.

Sounds good, though I hear an odd double hit or flam on the kick, particularly noticeably in the 2nd clip?

You´re right, someone mentioned that too me earlier on. I have no idea what happened. I started mixing and editing this stuff late at night so weird things
can happen, but will definitely look into it. I´m glad to hear a positive response. My main goal was to make it sound natural, be it sampled or not.

best regards

Ha !! Thank you. This is a poor man´s studio. I´m still short on mics and most importantly, I´m still trying to get them to sound good.
But yes, I´ll have a clip of that too in no time :-)
