OFFICIAL JEFF PORCARO THREAD

I searched 10 pages back and did not see an official Porcaro thread, so...

Also love the singular drummer threads...Steve we can get these all in one place?
I saw them on Collins, Briggs, JoJo, Gadd, Erskine, and more. I enjoy listening to
the tunes other HOD'ers dig with any comments from the 'Official' threads.

Lesser known tunes to start off with...he KILLED it on this record! Snare is a shot gun.
One of his last recordings (1991)

Possibly my favorite hat groove by Jeff (1990)

Classic Jeff fills...fun groove

Slinky shuffle groove...does that Lido Shuffle tom fill thing here

less is best session...just playing for the song

One of his earliest sessions (1977)

Sweetest 16th note groove...love the little hat thing @1:46 (so simple but tasty)

One of my favorite Jeff's shuffle, "Mama" !!!

Ferocious bridge here !!! :o

Here we can hear Jeff bringing the meat to that famous MJ's hit, "Beat It"

"Rosanna" just drum, Master piece !!!

And of course that gold mine here, RIP Mike and Jeff...

Sweet Rodge...Mama rules.

Some Jeff and Jim Hodder from '74

One of those tracks that anyone can play, but Jeff owns it...instantly know it's his
hat feel. Another simple but super tasty break @1:32

Love this tune! The little ride cymbal accents, straight forward shuffle...steady pulse
like a clock groove.

I rank this 1/2 time shuffle right up there with Mama and the rest...sweet and soft as it gets!
One of those tracks where the artist owns a feel...Jeff owned this groove imo. Subtle, tasty,
musical...no wasted notes. The open hats so signature. Love to have an isolated drum track
of this song. Imagine listening to the play back in the studio....McDonald saying,
"Damn...Porcaro makes me shine!" Jeff by this time is driving to another session looking for a
place to eat on the way.

I won't dope up my own thread anymore, but this tune really
messed me up back in the day. The tempo killed me. I couldn't
make the notes fit together smoothly for years. Shuffles like this
kicked my butt! This one for some reason was the hardest.
More of the lesser known Jeff.

Plenty of Pink Floyd tie ins with Jeff. Apparently during Mother, he came in rolled a big one and cut it in one take. Nick just couldn't swing those 3s.
