Dom has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This is horrible news. Such an insidious disease.

I wish Dom nothing but the best. He's a good guy.
There was a lot of hate for him in the past and I never understood why. There was a Premier advert in the 80's/90's with Joe Franco in a boxing ring. On his boxing shorts was the letters WHD which meant 'We Hate Dom'. Ironically, he ended up becoming a Premier endorser.

That's awful. I only know of him through seeing videos and interviews but he seems like such a kind, enthusiastic man. I hope he will beat this.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

He writes:

“To all my drumming community…

I want you all to hear this from me…

I recently have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
My surgery will be May 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in
New York City. This has blindsided me completely. Cancer
does not play fair.

I have traveled throughout life at 110 mph. This has slowed
me down…temporarily. I have some energy at times during
the day and continue to teach.

Every person is going through their own battles. I ask everyone
to show more compassion and understanding to every soul you meet.

I thank all my supporters and people I have meet in my 60 countries
I have traveled. You have brought me great joy and we confirmed
our love for music and drumming.

Please understand the power of our words. We tend to post our
opinions thinking it is our way of confirming our intelligence. But
in negative ways…it hurts.

My mothers always said, “if you have nothing nice to say…do not say it!”
I add or write it in our social media world. Words hurt and we need to
turn this world negativity around.

We truly are in this life experience together and we are stronger treating
each other with respect and kindness.

I appreciate each one of you reading this.

If we lift each other, we lift our home, our village our country and
eventually the world. I have tried to do this and I am asking for help.
I need each of you to reach out and lift others with your enthusiastic
positive energy.

I have the battle of my life in front of me, but knowing that each of
you are reaching to inspire people to aspire will eventually lift me.

I am so proud of my global drumming family and my music community.

Thank you for reading this and stay enthusiastic to each day to own
the moment. The power is in owning now!

I love you all.

Onward and Upward…
Dom Famularo”
