Bassdrum head Question

Postby Juan Expósito » Fri Aug 18, 2017 3:55 am

Hi friends.

My good and old Pearl Master Custom (MMX, from year 2000) had this bassdrum head from the factory (MASTERS by REMO, see pictures)
I love it. I´ve just put it in my other kit (Tama Starclassic Birch) and, even with all this time, wow !!
Attack, and a low end that I don´t find in others heads I have played in my kits.
You can feel it just with the head appart of the drum, tapping close your ear.

I´m looking this exact model in order to buy it.
I´ve googled for it but didn´t find it.
I did the question to Remo support too.

Anyone knows which model is that nowadays in Remo Catalog?
Maybe Powerstroke 3 or 4 (clear)
Thanks in advance.

Damn, I couldn´t put the pictures visible, so here are the links.:

Yup, thats Powerstroke 3 and btw I agree!

I also had a MMX kit that I loved, which was fitted with the exact same heads.

I still love and use P3 on my BD.

You want attack? The head you need is a smooth white Ambassador. Seriously, these heads rule on the kicks. PS3 are kinda blah sounding(but sound good when new.)
Keith Mansfield rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone !!
This is the Remo answer:
"Hello Juan,
This head is a Powerstroke P3 Clear bass drumhead that we just stamp with Pearl. For a 22" the model number is P3-1322-C2 and this head is readily available at all music stores.
Here's a link to the product page.

Thanks for chossing Remo"

So, I will buy Powerstroke 3 and check Smooth white Ambassador.

Thanks.

The beatuy of the P3S is that it's so versatile for every modern situation. Yo have all these different versions, but it's so easy to get exactly what you want with very simple muffling. The clear ones cut a little better, so it's quite normal to use a clear BD batter even though you go coated everywhere else.

Ambassadors are wonderful, too. You get that same open tone as from the smaller heads. That's what Weckl uses. There's just someting about them that Remo got right the first time. Those high mids that just cut in such a musical way.
