Yamaha EAD10

Postby drumnhands » Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:38 am

I'm curious how many of you have tried the new EAD10, and what your impression was. It's a really cool piece of gear that I'm having an awful lot of fun with.

I've got one and love it. I honestly feel that every drummer should have one. Invaluable.

Paul...would dig a video demo...this is one product that got me excited...very
excited! Love to hear how you are using it personally. What sounds did you
immediately attack? Did head selections make any difference? Did mic placement
make a difference? How would you rate this product over the past 20 years of
"new stuff" marketed?

Seems like the most well thought out drum product there could be for 2018. Inexpensive, easily does the job well enough to feed a small PA in a club, all in one practice tool and everything a youtube-drummer needs.

Dude! A video demo? Seriously? I don't have time for that shit!

I'm only using it for practice purposes right now, but I may try it live someday too. I don't use any of the weird sounds, just some reverb. It's great because you can hear your drums and cymbals (my ride sounds amazing through it) very clearly, and you can plug in an MP3 player (or a phone I guess) and practice along with music. It also has a customizable metronome. It's really, really great, especially for me, because I don't have a dedicated spot to leave my drums setup. I have to rent a room (by the hour), set up, and play/practice. Setting up mics and recording gear for practicing is just not an option.

As for using the iPhone software to record videos of myself playing along to tracks....um...no, not for me. But using it to play along to music and adjust tempos, loop sections, etc., THAT could be useful.

For now, just using it to practice and hear myself makes it perfect. Everything else is frosting. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

FYI, there are MANY videos of other people reviewing and showing the ins-and-outs of the EAD on YouTube, and more being published each day. This thing is a hit. I wonder what they'll add for the EAD-20?
