HODers VIDEOS TOPIC - Your own drum videos here

Hello,
I didn´t find a video topic for HODers members. In the old fourm it was one and it was cool.
Soooo...Put here our own videos hitting your things, live or in the drumroom, with band or alone, with HD quality or crappy sound, only 30 seconds of a superb groove/fill or 5 hours of Hihat solos, looking for help or just showing your mastery playing bulgarian fussion grooves !!

Put your videos here or talk about the videos that others members posted...just be positive, constructive and those social things we know how to use.

*************************
I did this funk-rock compilation of some improvised grooves that I recorded for showing some examples to my students and for fun (specially about ghost notes, dynamics in a funk rock vibe...)
Of one hour of random grooves recording I selected the decent ones (10 or so for now)
I recorded them to a click (various tempos) without any backing tracks and then...I programmed some loops over them, with no much backing tracks, just to give some context to the grooves.
I put some strange names to the grooves, just for naming them.
I am transcribing them right now for future use.

I hope you enjoy it.

Cymbals are sounding great Paul. Nice touch.

Thanks. I brought thin cymbals because this room is very live and things get loud very easy. I was barely touching the drums and cymbals which makes it hard for me to play with any intensity. It's a great exercise though, and I'm definitely getting better at playing quietly. I probably should have just done the whole gig with brushes. If we play there again I'm bringing my flat ride.

No Paul, the process of playing softly with sticks is one of the best "excersises" you can do. It helps you improve your touch, you develop the ability to control your cymbal (and drum) sound. The idea of playing very intensely at a low volume (burn hot on a low flame) will GREATLY improve your time concept. It will really strengthen your time concept at any dynamic and in any genre. It does wonders for your technique (which really is just the ability to control things) too. The work really pays off on gigs like this.

Don't think of brushes as a dynamic, brushes are a SOUND. Going to brushes (or rods) automatically when the dynamic range is low is just laziness. If you develop your touch, you can play as quietly and intensely with sticks as you can with brushes. And brushes can be as loud as sticks (Jack, Elvin, or Papa Jo for example.)

I have a youtube channel full of videos.
https://www.youtube.com/user/nomsgmusic/feed

But here are a few that people seem to like.

Santana Tribute band, first gig with the band.

And after a while in the band.

Jazz, large group, a tribute concert that trumpeter Matthew Stewart from Streetlight Manifesto did for one of my old bandleaders, trumpeter Ted Curson

and from out front

And a rare gig as a leader for me, my sax trio tribute to Joe Henderson.
I call the band, Mode For Joe.

These day I don't have the time to keep my hands in as good shape as I'd like. They used to be ok.

I know, and I agree, but it would be nice if it was balanced out with some fff burning too. I miss laying into the drums and building up a nice sweat.

I'll bite.

First post in quite some time. Don't play much at all these days simply due to my lifestyle and (I guess this goes hand in hand with lifestyle) because the ends just don't justify the means anymore.

It's fun to look back at this stuff as I haven't seen it myself in a while. Lots of great memories, but the playing mostly makes me cringe.

High school (2005, I think) battle of the bands:

Regular weekly gig in Austin back in 2009:

A rather stiff Sunshine Of Your Love:

My one and only TV appearance, 2008/09 ish:

A rather zealous rendition of 'Use Me' with my main band in Austin:

Same band:

This one may be one of my favorites, once the guitars and vocals get in tune (lol):

This is a good one too:

I think this was actually my last gig in Austin:

And this may be one of the only captured performance from when I was still trying to gig a few years ago after moving back to LA:
