Never been fan of NP, don't know why, BUT, I realise how much people have been touched by his drumming and lyrics with Rush, gotta respect that, it's not because I was not "feeling" it, that he was not a great one, RIP Mr Peart.

Never really been a fan either, but with me that goes for most of the music that gets put in that wide "prog" box. I grew up on entirely different music.
Regardless, he's one of the great ones, a pioneer and someone who kept going no matter what and gave a lot back.
Clearly, not just great drummer and musician, but a great human being. Humble and hard working.

I know, right? I was 16. My first "concert" with my band and we were playing Xanada as well as a bunch of other 70s rock. It was at my high school, so I "borrowed" the chimes, glockenspiel, temple blocks, etc. from the music room down the hall. And I used it all in Xanadu! People went nuts! Hilarious!! Good times.

Paul...if your HS was like mine, when you walked down the hall you were legend!
I assume you did one of those school assemblies...there was a band called Ocean.
They did a school assembly...when I got back to chemistry class the first thing the
teacher said was, "Wow...that drummer was something..." HUGE impression on me.
If you were in the school assembly band...no big deal...but in a rock band...big deal.

We did that too, everyone wanted to do a Rush cover in the early 80s. We had a couple guys that could swing a reasonable job, one of them became the CEO of Brown-Forman, who makes Jack Daniels. He was a partier. One of the stronger guys in drumline put cowbells, agogo bells, temple blocks and other stuff on his old-school tri-toms, we had no quads at that time. Thing weighed a ton.
