Lead sheet sources

Postby deseipel » Sat Jan 22, 2011 12:28 pm

Within the next year or so, I'd like to put together a group to do classic fusion tunes (for fun). I have some tunes in mind, but I'm having trouble finding lead sheets (chords + melody) for all of them. I realize it' may not be absolutely necessary, but I think it would be nice. Does anyone know of any services online that you recommend for providing lead sheets? I'm thinking of paying someone to write them out & email them to me.

I'm also trying to write them out myself, but it might be faster if I can pay someone else to do it.

Try doing a google search for "transcription" followed by the name of the tune that your looking for. There's a ton of stuff at Lucus' site. Just select the transcription button.

There's quite a lot of fusion in The New Real Books vol. 1,2,3:
Chick, Patitucci, Yellowjackets, Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Jaco, Brandon Fields, Brecker Bros, Tribal Tech, Mike Stern, Scofield, Herbie, Gambale, Carlton, Holdsworth,...

If you like Scofield, he puts some of his lead sheets on his site:
