Quarantine Chatty!

Postby Odd-Arne Oseberg » Fri Mar 27, 2020 1:33 pm

I'm following Tommy Igoe's challenge. Not very practical for me to record and post anything now, but I tune in to play along and maybe get some ideas. I've used the LTWU as part of my teach pretty much since I started teaching which was pretty much exactly when his stuff came out. Seems much of the stuff I came up with myself is also a lot of what he does. It pretty much has to be a group activity to sell this type of work to students that aren't used to it. Yes, it's stupid and boring, but at least we're doing it together type of thing.

I mostly have access to my real kit, but I also do some stuff at home. Mainly it's been matched grip, moving my left hand further along. Been working a lot with the index finger fulcrum. I'll probably always be a second finger tyoe of guy except for the usual suspects like buzzes, jazz ride and other tripple stroke stuff, but it's good exercise finding the last weak spots. What I can can do better with my right hand and why. It's good to have all the three main pads out as they each expose different issues.

Plan was to give every student that got through it a copy of the poster. Sadly, I've never worked anywhere long enough.

Someone posted the version with Abe from the second album. Reminded me how much I like this one, so listening to that now.

Recovery is helping with my ability to enjoy this stuff, so it will be an evening of my favourite Vinnie stuff.

Still no cases in my neck of the woods. Just a matter of time of course, but all closed down. A bit concerned that the items the stores run out of are toilet paper, all purpose wheat flour, refined sugar and frozen pizzas. I have no problems getting my stuff.

There 172 bpm today. I can't do it all at that tempo. The paradiddle variations? Flam drags? yeah. Not there. At least I tried.

Mid-Michigan hasn't quite been hit yet, but I hear Detroit is not good. It's starting to sink in what is going on here.

Todd from earlier this month. Hitting hard and precise.

In coming. There is more drum fun coming. Can't wait to see the Denis footage. Such a good cause for the drumming community.

Feel locked up in a hamster's cage without my wheel...lots of this guy
as of late! I think he's in Michigan today...

I hereby declare Rod Serling a GENIUS! Been watching Twilight Zones...
this cat was on another level of brilliant. His view of human nature is
the most honest ever...cat was so deep.

...back to the lighter side of Trucker Jukebox!

Not Vinnie, but cool nonetheless. My other favourite track on the album.

I believe it's Claudia's husband Niclas on drums.
