I got a few gigs. One is with a Garth Brooks tribute. One is with an Elton tribute. One is with a Billy Joel tribute.
All the same guy, from Canada. I'm hoping they come through, probably should, but it is the music biz and things are weird out there now.
The hardest music is by far the Garth music. I used to passionately hate country...when he asked if I could play it, I said sure, I'm up for a challenge. Milton Sledge is a groove monster who puts a lot of little tasty bits here and there, plays a lot of chinas which surprised me. He kicks the band in the butt.
I actually like some of these tunes, they are catchy and a lot less country than I thought. There's still the vocal thing, which is a bit odd. But, Garth sells out stadiums, so people dig his music. His live shows are more aggressive and rock and roll.
Interesting that it's not really tied to a click, it moves around, and the choruses kick up 1-2bpm.
