Recent double bass drum books?

Postby Tom Reschke » Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:32 pm

Anyone have any recommendations? When I was a kid, the Joe Franco book was the one, but I'm wanting something a little more modern. So far I'm just dinking around playing rudiments and trying to get the ladder fast and smooth and playing along to Pantera and Metallica. I can actually play some of those Neil Peart licks that I've bastardized over the years between the floor and my one kick drum. So any advice on books or videos would be appreciated.

I always liked Virgil's book:

Bobby Rondinelli's book is cool too:

This one is pretty great. Alfred sent me a copy and it's very well organized.

I don't know if it's available in your place, but I highly recommend this as a method for dexterity development, rather than a compilation of ideas.
