Wertico didn't use the bass drum all the much, and when he did, it was low in the mix and more felt than heard. There's something to that.
Came across this today, Ron Tutt, Elvis' and Neil Diamond's guy, and many others, live with Jerry Garcia.
He had a real nice groove and threw some tasty morsels in there.
This is him as well, a real fun tune to throw on and play along to. I am loving his playing the more that I listen to it. His kick is under the mix as well, dead and more of a pulse than a note.

Me too. He has such a singular voice on the drums, which is what attracts me to all of the players that I love.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

I learned today that Harvey Mason played on 'Kiss From a Rose'. I never knew!
I love Song Exploder and in this episode, Seal's vocals are featured acapella in some parts. They are stunning. And the drumming is SO tasteful.

Any fellow anglers here?
I had a wonderful day today on the coast, in the sun, with a lot of garfish (Belone Belone) action, a few big followers, some on, that got away, and 3 that made it all the way on land. And now made it into a dish of pasta with chili pesto.

Played a gig the other day near Cleveland. just putting our a warning to anyone using Pearl pedals and not checking them before every gig.
This happened in the middle of a Shania tune in front of 5-6000 people. I'd never played the tune, not with this singer, never played to tracks live, or with in-ears.
But, all in all, gig went pretty good. I just kept slamming 2 and 4 and made it through. Monitor guy was awful, smoking and eating and not paying attention.
Luckily I had a spare behind me and could swap it out between songs. If I hadn't, show over.
