Thank you !!!
As much as I'm a HUGE fan, his lack of humility, it's really something else...
At that point it's really not being over confident... :D

"His ego is as big s the Grand Canyon!"

That's why he plays a bigger bass drum and has larger crashes.

There is an amazing quote from Modern Drummer where he says ‘I never know when I’m going to leave the house and make history’.

I respect him massively and there is no doubt that he deserves his place in history. But there doesn’t to be much humility. There are a few things he says in the interview that really grates on me!

JR is a basketball player at heart, when he speaks he makes me think about all these NBA players that can't help but speaking about themselves, their stats and how great they are.

See how he drops everyday the charts of the past, and point out the hits he played on, and just the title of that video itself, "the most recorded...", damn, it's kind of, funny in a way... :D

Listening to JR reminded me a lot of the interview Tim Pierce had
with Ray Parker Jr. Both of these musicians have had tremendous
success. Both confident in who they are. Both, imo, grateful
for their careers. I noted several times JR was concerned about the
drum companies getting paid for their services. He responds to
what his audience wants to hear. Is this really that different than
Journey playing the same hit songs each concert for 40 years?

The guy interviewing was a fanboy...his energy was all about
connecting to JR and this usually means propping up his accomplishments
in order to connect quickly. People still love to hear how JR came
up with the intro to "Rock with You",,,heck, a bunch of us were
at Catalina's in LA (LADanny treated us) and JR was in the band...
then one tune started with the classic intro...people went nuts
including some of us HOD cats.

I thought the interview was a good listen.

It was indeed a good listen, JR is a fun cat, as a fan of his HUGE groove, I've been following him for years, I read a lot about him, and I always had the same feeling about his ego, hey, why not after all, he made it BIG TIME, still and doing it big time.

Bill Labounty's "The Right Direction", underrated album, JR's groove and sound are REALLY something else, Stubenhaus on bass, Mike Thomson on guitar, maybe Carlton too.
