It blows my mind how Cindy has managed to completely replicate Tony's sound and playing style. Actually I really hate the idea of a musician devoting his/her life to trying to sound like somebody else, but Cindy has done it so well, I just have to give her respect. But Vernon Reid sounds god-awful on this.

Videos are blocked at work, but that is Medeski. I'm going to see them this Wednesday at Yoshi's in Oakland. Very much looking forward to it.

For sure, she has done a super job. Just needs the CS Dots!

A drummer friend and I were talking about Cindy once and he was a little critical because he said she played too much like Tony Williams, to which I replied, "Anybody who doesn't play like Tony is WRONG!"

Seriously, though, she kills this shit.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

God, I love her playing...so energetic. Yeah she sounds like Tony sometimes, but I don't think she is a clone. I mean, she's playing in Tony tribute band for god sake....who do you want? Donati in there?? lol

you're right but if there ever was a clone, it's cindy. i'm pretty sure she talks openly about that influence though. but seriously, the wrist technique, the way she hits the drums, the dynamics, the groove, and the fills - all tony.

I saw her, with a "touring" iteration of this line up...Felix Pastorious-bass, Marc Cary-Keys, Cindy, Guitar, I don't remember. She KILLED it...(Blues Alley Wash DC- in October 2010...Jeff Tain was up the next week...(missed him and his masterclass...had to return to Charlotte, dang it!) Felix, was not impressive to me...Marc was cool on keys...Got a chance to say Hello...she's got Tony down, no doubt.
