Cheer up HODers!

Postby deseipel » Thu Feb 03, 2011 10:03 am

Hey y'all, feels like a bummer 'round here lately and I'm officially calling it out. Let's all sit badk, relax and chill-ax. I may not have been the most positive (I admit it), but we all have streaks of colon-pipery, but we all love the drums and pee our pants when we see guys like Jojo, Vinnie, Dave DiCenso, Zach D. or Dave Weckl play. So even though we might be in a winter doldrum of sorts, I'd like to challenge everyone to share a video or clip that inspires you. And tell us what you like about it specifically.

let's go back, a classic. I'll get the chips, you bring the beer.

over the bar line phrasing, '5' on the floor section. wow.

Just what we needed! That Sting clip made my day!

Not a YT clip but I picked this CD up yesterday on a whim, (and because it was cheap) because of Vinnie. The song is ok but check out the fill @ 2:43:

Deseipel,
Great idea. Lets check out some cool tunes. Ah, this feels good.

I don't check out Youtube much so I'm gonna let the music do the talking for me.
I get together once or twice a year and snowboard with an old keys player friend of mine at his shack up in Keystone/Dillon, CO.
When we're not boarding, we compose stuff like this:
Nepalese Stinger
https://www.yousendit.com/download/MzZH ... V0R2Wmc9PQ

Download it. Check it out. Yeah, I rush here and there, and there can be a fair amount of slop, but I'm proud of it as I think I played outside of my usual "box" when we layed it down.
It's not fully mastered or edited in any way but I think you'll get the point. Maybe you'll find it inspirational.
Enjoy!

Wow, it's incredible as I think that she's produced by great bass player Larry Klein, ex Joni's husband, and she sounds like Joni, weird...
But Jeez, what a fill !!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o
Thanks Clint.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

That's it Rodge! I was trying to think of who she sounded like. At first I thought Joan Armatrading but she even sounds like Joni Mitchell.
That's indeed Larry Klein on the bass.

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

And now, for something completely different...

She might not be the most terrific drummer around, but when the song kicks in after the whole Vince talk it just puts a grin in my face how hard she's driving the band.
