chris perra wrote:I bought an Edirol R09 HR for audio and use a Kodak z18 for video.. Both of these together give me better video and audio than a Q3hd. They also came in a bit cheaper.. l Like that I can put the camera in a good place and the recorder somewhere else if there's better sound elsewhere... Only thing is you need to line up the audio with the video later..

The audio from this was with the roland unit, The camera was a panasonic,tm700... A far better camera than a kodak z18, but the kodak is a better camcorder than the Q3HD...

Hi Chris, I have the Edirol too.

Have you compared the Edirol´s sound with the Zoom directly ?

And, what "Roland Unit" are you using on that recording ?

Hi Guys,

I'm really interested in this unit (especially based upon the enthusiasm expressed thus far).

I did have a question: Do Zoom Q3 owners here on the board see any merit to the main review posted on Amazon (titled "Great Audio; Fair Video")?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046K ... d_i=507846

I'd be interested to get your take on this. At any rate, the "one-star" rating did not seem to match the verbal content of his review.

The video is pretty good when there is good light...really suffers in low light conditions.
Here is a clip at about 6:00pm in the shade...click on the link to watch on YouTube then watch on full screen mode to really see...this is filmed on the 720p setting...

A little eariler when some sun was still bringin' the light...

For filming under "concert/stage light" will be hit and miss. Outdoors in sunlight will be good.

In case you want to compare to a HD flip which I actually really like. Drums are a little close in this vid so there's some distortion but gives you an idea of quality in general.
