I only made it about 30 seconds into a couple of those videos at random, I kept thinking "ok maybe it's just that tune that sucks..."

But no.

same here. sounds like ass. hated it.
there´s this thing about Pridgen i´ve always disliked... his kit sounds terrible, i can never feel a sense of groove...maybe his
music is just "too out there" because I don´t get it.

This is not my style of music, but if I were going to see a concert with friends in my 20's,
TP is the type of drummer I'd want to see--very high energy, athletic, hard hitting, technically
stimulating (fast singles around the kit will always win you popularity points at a rock gig).

I would never call him a groove drummer, more a basher and slammer. This is his stage of
maturity and in five years time will tell if this type of playing will take its toll. I am amazed at
Virgil's high end physicality/athletic drumming while in his 50's! Who would have though he could
keep it going like this when he was 35?

The only concern I have with TP is I find myself wanting to watch him over hearing what he's playing.
There will always be the next visually attractive performer and I am about at the end of my TP period.

More power to ya TP! Glad you are gigging professionally...shirt or no shirt.

I've been working with a 17-year-old who has absolutely enthralled with Pridgen. I've encouraged him to branch out, but I'll say without his enthusiasm for Pridgen I'm not sure we'd even be able to communicate. Pridgen has been his gateway into older fusion. Colaiuta would be totally lost on him without first being exposed to Pridgen. He's filling a role I think guys like Peart used to fill.
“Let's try some of my songs.” Dave Grohl, top sign drummer will be fired.

I dig some of Thomas' stuff. I wish he would settle more into a groove sometimes like he does here

Loved his playing on that Christian Scott Album... He is very technically proficient, but one of the loudest drummers I have ever heard in a non-metal setting... I caught him at JT Schmitts(sp?) bass bash a yr or two ago... Can't remember if it was with Victor Little or a different bass player, but Thomas was killing it.... except It would have been quieter with my head inside of a jet airplanes engine...
Some not so recent playinghttp://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ScottPazera.. track 7
