Dave sat in on a jazz gig in Reykjavik Iceland recently, here's a little solo clip shot by a friend of mine.

It's "his kit" meaning that it's a kit that was shipped to Iceland for him to use on his clinic and the "One day Intensive". A friend of mine actually played the majority of this gig and Dave sat in on a few tunes but wanted to use this kit, which my friend agreed on doing. :)

Caught the new band at the Iridium while I was in New York over the weekend. Early show, this past friday night.

This band obviously has chemistry and are stellar musicians. Tom Kennedy was superb, as was Makoto. Dave was ferocious, but to be honest- I could have done without the sax (as much as I enjoy Gary Meek's playing). I think the group would have been a bit more rounded out as a trio or with guitar instead of a horn- but then it wouldn't exactly be the Acoustic band, would it?

They played maybe eight tunes- not as much 'straight-ahead' as I was hoping for, but brilliant stuff regardless. Dave had a couple solo spots (naturally), and really let it fly on the last tune, more of an afro-cuban sort of thing over a vamp.

Here's the first part of the last solo:

And the rig (Maple Customs, same setup as he's been using for the tour):

Overall, it was a good gig- I'm sure the later show would have had a bit more fire to it, so if you're going to catch them, do that!

Welp. Just got an official Stalkbook notice from Dave Weckl that my video has been taken down due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Granted, it's not a big deal that the video has to be taken down, but... hm.

Anyway, I've since reached out to him (or his staff, whomever reads the emails) with a formal apology noting that I loved the show, am a fan, and no harm done.

I saw the band in a nice theatre. They sounded amazing. Killer all the way. All miked up, sound was devastating. Tom Kennedy is sick. Dave played awesome. Cool new set-up too.
