Listening to Hard-Wired on this Thanksgiving morning - remembering being a student at Musicians Institute in an apartment with Kurtis and geeking out about this CD 93-94. Good memories - fun music! Dave's first ever solo performance at Catalinas for that recording. John P on bass - killing dates! We lived up the street from the club! What a time! Houseofdrumming would be created shortly after.

The last DW's album I bought, I liked it, specially "Where's Tom", "Dis' Place This", "Hard-Wired", and "Just An Illusion", James Genus on bass on some songs or the whole album ? Maybe Antony Jackson plays on that one too.

I always loved Tavaglione's sound, rare tenor player playing fusion without Mike Brecker's sound.
Jeff Beal on one song too ?
His "Three Graces" is something else.

Afrique is my favorite tune on there - a great example of the old 6/8 4/4 with the addition of 3/4 as well without sounding too mathy. Anthony Jackson and Dave play the coolest groove on the outro too.

Are the toms panned backwards for you on that? The right side FT is panned left for me unless my setup is wrong.
The buzz control and phrasing is untouchable - Love that stuff.
