Roy Haynes was born in 1925, he impresses me way more than DW, musicaly and even more than that. ;-)

"Dave Weckl has released an online drum school with more than 10 hours of video lessons contained in organized courses. Unlike many drumming videos and online drum schools, Dave focuses on the foundation of good playing: hand and foot technique, groove, and musicality. All members of the school can join Dave's Private Facebook Group where they can upload videos - and Dave and other members can comment. Learn more at: http://daveweckl.teachable.com"

And this is coooolll !!
Walfredo Reyes´s son, Daniel de los Reyes, is capturing some old VHS recordings from his father and he found this.
Weckl´s receiving some of his first songo/latin lessons from the master Changito !!
"I am at my Dad's house Walfredo de los Reyes Taking so many videos he has and transferring them. Here is a fun one when Dave Weckl came over to take a lesson with the great Changuito. For those who never took a lesson with him when he would go NO! it was intense. Dave had a great time as we all did that day. This was one of Changuitos first songo movements made famous by him and played with Los Van Van."
I loooove the internet.

Great find. Beautiful fill near the end leading into the last crash.

Chanquito is a monster. I heard from a friend that this is how his clinics go...not much English spoken. One of the few times I've seen Dave out of his comfort zone.

Those Kurtis vids are SICK...glad I went back to see if they were posted.
Dave's phrasing is SO tasty! His snare sounds prefect to me here. I like
Nathan's bass solo...that dude can gig with Chick, walk across the street
and do a Journey concert, sit in with Cheryl Crow and do a Zappa tribute
all in one night!
