Anyone seen these before??? Or has it ever been posted on HOD??
1985 clip... Must have been a gig like this that inspired John Scofield to call this ferocious duo to join his band not too long after !!
DC always has energy but these ones have an nice youthful edge to them...
1st clip sounds like "freedom jazz dance"...
Check the solo section 3:40.. classic DC...

As I recall the story, Scofield first saw Chambers from backstage at a jazz festival in which Chambers was playing with the Brecker Brothers. Scofield went on a mission to meet him. I'm guessing Grainger joined that band on Chambers' suggestion.
The video I'd like to see is Chambers with P-Funk from back in the day.

Party time.
Because from the original post, I went to this.
Put on Grainger´s foot, and try to keep the beat...

HOLY CRAP!
Dennis never ceases to amaze.
The first time I ever saw him live was at a drum clinic in Glenside, PA in 1990.
I had Scofield’s “Pick Hits Live” before seeing him, but even that doesn’t prepare you.
He was a frigging force of nature. Hurricanes, Tornados, and Dennis Chambers.

Looks like Paul Saroka on keys/lyricon and maybe Carl Filipiac on GTR. Gary does a jam session in Bethesda MD every Tuesday night with his bro Greg. A lot of great players come out to jam.

The Solo section should be um....... put in a psycho ward
Its freaking scary Dennis sounded better back then than he does now
He is fast enough to play in a death metal band in that solo vid
AND he probably disembodied everyone in the crowd also

Dennis with Brides of Funkenstein on 3-18-79 Featuring Dwayne Blackbyrd Mcknight from Headhunters
(Audio) DC age 16 with Funkadelic. Some Dennis-isms are already VERY present
Dennis plays double bass drum funk w/ P-Funk Allstars 1986 Germany (good camera time)
Oddly enough, Yesterday I ULed a torrent of Parliament Funkadelic in November 1979 on the Uncle Jam Tour at TheTradersDen. Dennis is drumming on about 1/3 of it. By 80/81 he was the only guy, but in 79 he was touring as the Brides drummer and sitting in for portions of the Parliament/Funkadelic sets. You can DL it here. He is stunning on this performance.
