All in all, a great and well done reality/contest/documentary show. And, showed the band members to be well adjusted, sincere and down to earth guys. All around good stuff. I wonder if non drummers liked these as much as we?

Kudos to Mike Mangini. He certainly came across as the one that wanted it the most. That usually matters as much as anything. For everything.

My thoughts exactly.

No, but really, I would take a gig like that no matter what. Mike played the part perfect. And heck, if funding was not an option, and it was a big stadium act like that, Shiiiit ever seen one of Grant Collin's setups? That's what I'd be rocking. Bozzio style, more pedals then drums.

As insane as those setups are, I'll admit it, they do look like a blast to play on. Watching guys like Steve Smith and our good friend Todd play on bigger kits inspired me to add more to my own setup. And I'm diggin' it (although my setup is nothing compared to what Mangini is sporting now with DT).

Woa. That is awesome. I would buy some of the larger roto-toms if they sold em still (do they?)

Not sure if I'd add rototoms to the rig (as cool as they are), but I am considering adding a couple of Octobans or the Rocket Toms from Pearl (which is what I'm leaning towards). Use 'em on the big kit setup.

I've only owned one DT record in my life-Images and Words, and I couldn't get into it at the time (college) because of the triggered snare sound. I think I read an interview years ago where Mike P. complained about it too?
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the videos of the audition process. It kind of piqued my curiosity toward the music and the band and honestly, I might just pick up their record with Mangini when it comes out. (I guess the video worked. I could be a new fan and they could sell one more record! )
On a different note- I went to Mangini's website and found this: http://www.adrummersdream.com/
It might have been discussed already, but I was like, "Whoa.. I never heard about THIS??!"
My birthday is in a couple weeks so I oh-so-slyly showed the website to my fiance' and when she asked me if I bought it, I replied with a few words about my current financial situation (Got a NYC trip booked for JUNE).
Let's see what happens. Maybe she took the bait...
Any of you guys own or seen this movie? Opinions? Thoughts?
Would love to know more about it.
D.

This is from last year's canadian Ultimate Drum Camp.

It's in my region and they told me they'll try to arrange private lessons. I'll try to catch ElNegro during my vacation.
