Beato is a charlatan. He blocked me from a live stream because he couldn't handle the truth. He's on YouTube trying to scrape a living together, so that pretty much dictates what he posts about - things that attract viewers. Dude should just stop and get a job at his local Starbucks. Maybe his coworkers will buy his schtick.

Whatever... My views aren't exactly embraced by many.

I like Rick...he's very intelligent and talented and yes he is upfront about wanting to
make a living on Youtube now...good for him. Just hated that song selection and
Max as a "genius"...was at a Chinese buffet tonight and the "music" playing was all
loud Ariana Grande stuff...just my rant but it is the American Idol hangover of guys
like Max and Simon who take talent and then manufacture...Bruno Mars song he did
was good to highlight production, Bruno got game...but the others seem like a director
who cannot stop with the CGI...to the point of absurd which then becomes cartoon!
Superhero movies fans and action movies have suffered...but a 15yo thinks this is good!
That is why I see so many Youtube comments from the proverbial 16yo kid who says,
"Music back then was so much better...all I listen to is this music!" When I was 15,
that was unheard of unless you played clarinet in school and had to listen to Benny Goodman
to learn a chart.

He was complaining that record companies were taking down his videos because he was using music without permission. He went on to say that there was NO money they were losing as a result of his copyright abuses. I simply stated that YouTube was making a shitload of money from people posting content illegally and he didn't like that. I also stated that he should simply purchase a video sync license to use third party music in his videos, or simply request permission BEFORE posting it.

Thanks Odd-Arne...like these channels. Loved the video on the Gretsch
factory tour...surprised there are not session drummers that get into this...
share the stories and experiences. Beato does this, but not like a session
drummer. Many are cats older now and technology like Youtube, video editing,
etc, not their thing. Ran into the drummer from the band WAR and he
said this to me...got the stories, experiences, but can barely use email!

Living in So Cal, there are legends living in studio apartments with history
untapped...such a waste. If I could figure how to capture this I would...
Yesterday I drove by a drummer's apartment from the 60's and 70's...
probably watching Wheel of Fortune...hmmm, gotta work on this!

Surprised? Why? No one is willing to pay for anything. Why spend the time doing it? Narcissism? To help Google make some more money?

Let's face it, if people were able to monetize their own creations fairly, there would be a hell of a lot of great stuff to watch, hear, and/or read. Hopefully blockchain can be put to good use and make it possible to control digital content.

Fair point...more a reflection of me not thinking money first,
but yes, I get it.

On the rock side of life, this song is as pure rock n roll as it get!
Michael Anthony's bass is magic...Alex plays perfectly...this song
works with Roth's vocals...

Rock Candy here...Crank it UP

Why not, another from the box of Van Chocolates

This will make you dream of owning a Ludwig snare drum...promise!

On an Alex Van Halen note, I absolutely love his playing on Outta Love Again on their second album. I swear, he's like the heavy metal Tony Williams on that one. Amazing. The sound of his drums is really perfect on that record too. I remember seeing Van Halen in Toronto on that tour. I was standing outside Maple Leaf Gardens well before the doors opened, and Alex Van Halen comes walking by with a small paper bag of stuff he must have bought at a nearby convenience store. I said "Hey, you're Alex Van Halen!" and then asked him what size sticks he used (lame, I know, but I was 16). He said "3S" and then tried to get in past the security guard. The guard wouldn't let him in! He didn't know who he was, and Alex didn't have any sort of pass on him. I tried arguing with the guard to no avail. Then Alex continued around the building. Then through the glass doors I saw Eddie pass by on roller skates, wearing hockey pants and a goalie face mask!
