I stopped by a really excellent drum shop in Cincinnati called Badges. Highly recommend you check them out. He had so many rides from everyone. I also tried out some Meinl sticks. I was very impressed with the quality and feel. The 5A is a bit lighter than the Vaters I usually use, but it's not a bad thing.
It's been a long time since I hung out in a drum shop and geeked out over gear.

He had a few of these Meinl Pure Alloys and these are ones that I would consider getting a set. They are very Paisteish but with their own thing.

Hey Rodge, yeah, I haven't heard Frank Nilsson for a long time. Always loved his playing. Not keen on the over produced/compressed sound on his latest version of The Real Deal. One of the most inspiring bits of playing of his for me is this.
