Great playing huh! The single stroke at 1:50.

Both performances are amazing.

Funny...Smith is playing the groove I am seeking at a faster tempo in this thread...
Steve is a different drummer playing this stuff...alive inside over Who's Crying Now...
have we seen a band drummer go from solid pop/rock to hard core swing like SS
at this level before?

I LOVE Jochen's feel and vibe...so inside that feel & style...could Vinnie's snare
be 'tweaked' any tighter here?

Kurtis...BENNY...from the first note I was sucked way into his groove.
That was amazing stuff...

I know billy cobham is BILLY COBHAM...but man I just do not feel it...
give me Greb 7 days a week and any time in between...

Sme of those old solos have a certain funkiness to them.

For comparison, John Wooton playing the solo.

This is pretty wild.

Interesting story with this one.

The Grateful Dead song "He's Gone" is based on Lenny Hart's embezzlement of band money and subsequent disappearance.[5][6] As a result of the fiasco, Mickey Hart, feeling ashamed of his father's actions, left the band in February 1971, not returning to the group on a full-time basis until 1974.

Lenny Hart died of natural causes on February 2, 1975.[7] He had been teaching music in Mill Valley since his release from prison. According to Dennis McNally "Mickey went to the funeral home, cleared the room, took out the snakewood sticks that had been his inheritance, played a traditional rudimental drum piece, "The Downfall of Paris," on Lenny's coffin, and split."

I like this period of Yes and Alan White's playing, he has that cracking snare and unique sounding toms. His bass drum placement is a joy to listen to, very clever. He puts some art in there.
