RIP Dave Holland.

First I've heard of this...ghost drummer. Not surprising given the era...

Played some massive tours, and classic tunes.

Wow, that Eye of the Tiger video...couldn't play one verse without expressing his expressiveness...jeez. The drummer is there to support the vocal, and melody, not the drummer.

Putting Dave Holland's personal issues aside (some cannot) his drumming
was a HUGE influence in my high school years with British Steel.

Never forget that band jam in the basement when the drummer in
my buddy's band who was an Alex Van Halen clone--exact same kit with
fire extinguishers and VERY busy player who would have emotional blow
up's dealing with his parents divorce he held inside.

On one of his exits for a long drive leaving everyone hanging...the guitar
player put on Steeler (last cut on British Steel) and said, "THIS is what drumming is!"
I sat behind his kit and played to the song and nailed the fill (@2:15)...and it felt like
I cheated on friend's wife! Needless to say there was silence after this...the band didn't last
much longer afterwards. Good times...high school!

I still love this snare and his time/pocket feel! This music was a drug back in the day...
and album covers matter...this was one of the BEST! Outside of seeing Sherri G walk
down the halls, this cover was in my heart and mind as the coolest thing ever!
I was 16...no shame. lol

It was the sound of my high school days, 82-86. Cranking Priest. They lost the plot on Turbo IMO.

That fill is heavy, and the constant bass drum pattern, those biting cutting Paistes flowing into the twin guitar attack of Downing and Tipton. Huge fan of the blending of the Strat and Paiste crashes. It's a distinctive sound. The steady tension on the outro. Classic. He crashed on his ride a lot, and had some bells that he used, and that 15 or 16 RUDE crash that cut through everything. British drummers seem to have something different amongst them, each has a different take on playing.

I pretty much learned how to play listening to Priest, Les Binks and Holland...Scott Travis is also a monster metal player, but I prefer the solid "single kick" guys. You over-play these tunes, it loses everything, like that Eye of the Tiger cover.

Halford is vicious here.

This is a killer show. Props to Woz for filming it and the great audio.

Love this tune, one of my favorites, really epic.

And this one.

And this one.

Buzzkiller here. But I´ll admit I have a problem with this people on YT making teens believe they play twenty instruments, but when you strip down the samples and the production they sound like this. Not cool in my book.

Nice of them to include slo-mo.

The more the rules of marketing change, the more they stay the same...

Oh, I had no idea she was just this good. Jeesh.
