RECORDING MIXERS - ZOOM R24...

I am updating some of my equipment, as you can see from my last posts.

I own FOSTEX VF 16 (hardisk recorder from a decade ago)

I have all my practice drumset and other sound sources connected to the mixer.
I want to update the Fostex to something that I can use easily with my computer, and VF 16 doens´t do it, but it works fine in everything else.
I don´t want a computer for practice /recording, only for the final phase (editing), but not a computer for the everyday home recording/listening/practice work.

Anyone with this machines, FOSTEX VF 16 or new ZOOM R24 ??
Or some suggestion of what you are using near your drumset for this purpose ?

The Zoom R24 looks nice, especially since it can handle more than two condensor mics now. The main problem with it that would prevent me from buying it is the EQ. It's three band, but only the middle is parametric. If you plan to mix on your computer, then it's not an issue. Otherwise, I would consider the Boss BR-1600.
