my new headphones

Hi,

This is my first topic in the House of Drumming (hehe) and I´m about to get new headphones to substitute
my old Vic Firth "Isolation" Headphones and was wondering what could I replace it with. I´m after something
that will obviously protect my hearing while delivering very good sound quality.

The Vic Firth ones are OK but they do feel terrible.

Any thoughts ?

I've used StudioKans for over a decade now. Fantastic headphones and the liquid filled muffs are replaceable for about $3. Highly recommend them.

Sennheiser HD25. They're smaller and won't surround your ear but they isolate pretty well. However, there's a muff replacement I've seen working at a local studio that are nothing short of amazing. After 3 or 4 hours of recording I didn't feel tired of them at all.
And the sound quality is excellent. Great, sweet mid-low response.

I like the Senheisser HD 280 pro's
As much sound reduction as the Vic Firths...
And great fidelity, tons of bottom end..

Sennheiser HD 555 work for me. Really comfy. You can mod them to be the more expensive HD 595 and save some cash!

Hmm I'm have to check out these Senny's ya'll are talking about. That's been my number one issue with the Kans, is the weight. Everything else is perfect. If another product can match those but is more comfortable, heck yes!

Well, that is if you want to go with big headphones. I only use those in the studio, for live playing I've been using the Sennheiser CX300 II in-ear phones and they're wonderful (and cheap). They have an amazing mid-low range that gives you enough power without using too much volume and pretty good isolation.

I use the Shure SCL2 in-ears- I don't think they make them anymore, but Shure makes others similar to them.

For great isolation, I put the Vic Firth's on top of them so all I can hear is what's coming through the phones...which sounds cool when you have mics set up...

i´m gonna read about all of the models mentioned.
If I can get as good isolation as I do with the Firths
and AWESOME sound quality at
a price that won´t break the bank, that would be great.
My budget is 160 bucks
