While Bruner is great with Stanley Clarke, I USED to think he wasn't such a good fit with Holdsworth. This changed my mind. Thanks for posting.

^^Yeah that's pretty ridiculous. lol And I think that's the kind of thing that only tons and tons of practice will allow you to do. :-) But holy, he's probably the only "Gospel" guy that could hang tho. hahahaha

These clips were posted some time ago. Nice to revisit them. Man his singles are crazy awesome. He's so in control. Monster player. He's slitghly ahead here and there but who cares. It's live and super fun.

It's Tony's tune. That is all
there is to it.

I think I would like to see
Billy Kilson try it but whoever
does it (I do like Gary's) has
to make it theirs and not
try to emulate too much of
what Tony did for me to
like it. Even Dennis.

Pete

You can't put my man with the other cats, as awesome they are, but you can add Chris Coleman instead.

Otherwise I'm fan of Ron anyway.

Of course Vinnie is in other league, but it would be nice too see the Godfather of modern drumming with some exceptional students trading licks...

Actually, Chad Wackerman was the drummer on the studio version of "Water on the Brain"--off of the "Road Games" album:

Allan, of course, recorded as a sideman with Tony in the latter's Lifetime band. To my knowledge, however, Tony only played one track on a Holdsworth album--i.e., the Atavachron album, on the tune "Looking Glass."

I'm pretty sure that it was originally recorded during the sessions for I.O.U., but didn't make it to the record. Gary made an mp3 of that recording available online at one time.
