Tears of Joy/Todd Sucherman transcriptions?
I remember there was a thread about this on the old site. Just curious if a Tears Of Joy transcription exists or would anyone be interested in transcribing this version? Even just 4 or 8 bars of the basic beat but with proper looking notation software would be great.

I'd be more than willing to do that, but I'm having a real pain trying to instal Sibelius on Mac.

Hey bstocky,
I remember that thread from the old forum. As I recall, Brad (Vdrummer) is on the case with a possible book of transcriptions from the M&M dvd. He always does excellent work, so I'll definitely be looking forward to it!
In the meantime, Here's a short little excerpt from me....This is the first 4 bars when Todd comes in after the cymbal roll.
Love this tune!!
Hope it helps man.

Ok...one more.
The same transcription with the 13 subdivided as 7/16 + 6/16 as explained on Todd's DVD. Just for good measure.
I was feeling the groove the first way after I played through it, but maybe it's really to be perceived the second way.... Who knows!! Maybe Todd will drop in to tell us.
Enjoy!

Hey Terry,
Those are correct! Actually the piece is in 13/8, so what's down as 16th notes should be 8th notes. The 8th note rate is pretty brisk. I always thought it was in 13/16 but Jerry Goodman says otherwise. It is easier to feel that part of the tune as a bar of 7 then a bar of 6.
I'll be filming another DVD in December and I'll have Jerry Goodman's "Going On 17" ready for it. That one is in 15/8, 4/4, 7/4 and 17/8.
Cheers from an erie gray day in Erie, PA

Todd, I just wanted to pass on a compliment on your playing. Styx was never my bag, but you compliment the music so well that it inspires me to try some of your concepts, especially since I bought your DVD. Nothing but respect here, brother, and I really enjoy the atmosphere of fellow cats who bother to contribute and share their experiences as you do. Nothing but respect, man.... Carpe Diem. Cheers! Your fellow Chicago cat.
