Ralph is great and I recommend everybody to buy his albums, some great agressive Jazz Hard Bop music, I love it.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

I second that! Also, Eric Harland has a dvd coming out from the same company. Ari, Ralph and Eric...lots of cool winter fun to be had with this three musicians! I can't wait.

Rodge, is YOUR cd still available? I'd love to have and get a copy of it!?

He sounds a little like Keith Moon, has the same sort of creative melodic attack, freewheeling power and energy as the younger Keith Moon. That might be lowering him to a non-jazz level, but I hear similarities.

I've been thinking about his playing a lot recently...he is a master.

What?

Technique for days on end, but WOW, he is the busiest jazz drummer ever!
His pocket is 2-4 bars at best...found it ANNOYING in the one video that
played...reminds me of a younger Vigil...all over the kitchen sink!
Keith Moon...yes...just not jazz sensibilities...Keith is not a drum
role model...more power to him!

...What is awesome about this player? Technique that seems flawless
is not awesome musically. His hands are awesome...give ya that!
He's no Carl Allen that's for sure! Do not get the love here...
Been on a jazz diet for months now...this playing seems very immature.
Flame away...open ears to understand the "awesome" reasoning.
If you focus on chops, ideas, etc, got it...give me more!
He is a gospel chops drummer playing jazz...trying to redefine the genre?
Somehow Joe Porcaro and John Riley do not get it either...just my
inner voice speaking too loudly here.

This is musical and awesome...

He is unstoppable, probably literally. I bet people playing with him go "Hey dude, WTF, can we stop now?"

But I like his creativity and power, and melodic phrasing. Cool stuff.
