What a player - Omar and a great
interview! Thanks, Clint.
It was the Professional Percussion
Center that he was talking about,
with Frank (midtown). So many of
the greats shopped there, like he
said. Really inspiring.
I am from Queens also but not his
neighborhood. My neighborhood
(Corona) was more Latin, when I
was playing. I wish I could have
connected but I would not trade
my life for anything.
He reminds me of Steve in his
sincerity and his goal to share.
I really learn from players that
communicate like this.
Wonderful!
Thanks, again, Clint!
Regards,
P
PS: I was glad to hear the
interviewer talk about Omar's
'heavier sound' and approach
which I also believe is in him.
I identify it as a more 16th-
note pulse coming through
in everything he does.
