Kudos to Omar and Neal for teaching him the set in 24 hours ala FB page.
Arnel looks tired.

Deen owns this gig, but his BD pattern was annoying on this one.

Sorry...original pattern way better; Larry Londin track?

Larry Londin killed on that Journey record. Love his drum parts and groove. He owns every note played! Shame he passed to soon.

This shit makes me sick. Talk about double standards; most people will fill their mouth against domestic violence, but won´t say a word about this guy because he played in a couple of big acts. Hope he loses all his sponsors. Soon. :x

It's gonna be hard to find a replacement for Deen...he played with such
power and finesse and flare on this gig. Russ nails most of the original
note and will be rock solid...he captured the drum sound well and I think
at this stage of Neil's career he wants stability day in and out. Russ is
good for that. Yet...me being picky here, his feel on the ride on a few
songs was not laid back. He did not play the open hat part on Ask the Lonely,
and a few other mishaps. I would try to nail the original feel which means
a lot of homework, especially on the ride cymbal...then again, this is my
approach. Visually he is a lot like Neil Peart over Deen who was larger
than life.

I say they do everything they can to get Steve back in the band to do the tours.
That would bring back the family after all these years w/Ross and JC.

That said, I get any anger towards Deen, but also feel for him and his
condition. Addictions are a bitch and he needs to focus on the rest of his
life. It will take hard work and you can't just pop in and out of meetings.
Deen is 50 now...he knows his patterns. I wish I could talk to him.

The first names that come to my mind are Gregg, Nir Z, Dave DiCenso and Todd. Those guys could kill the gig.

They will need someone who can reach the entire venue. Russ is an amazing player but that vid looked like he was playing in his basement, which he was.

Deen is a tough act to follow. They will miss his vocals as well I'm guessing.
