Oh? Vinnie has incredible feet (in addition to his insane hands, of course...).

I've never thought of or heard of Vinnie as one with incredible feet. Could you point me to stuff where
he plays incredible double bass stuff?

- Megadeth - The system has failed (2004)

He plays very fast sextuplets on feet, at the end of the tune ! One of the fastest double bass part in the history of Megadeth (excuse me for the bad sound quality but it seems impossible to find a good version on Youtube).

To me Vinnie has all is needed, so yes he has incredible double bass skills too, o creative, but I guess that Jeppe is reffering (in his thought) to his God, Mr Donati... :-)

Anyway...

I am with Sejuba on this one. And it's certainly not incredible double bass stuff.
It's not even good time. I think this is the sloppiest I've heard Vinnie play.
I absolutely love him. But for this work.

Sorry my friend. I have no gods.
But you are correct in assuming that Virg is the most incredible
double bass drummer I've ever heard. But this thread is not about him, and I am not trying to
hijack it. I have simply yet to hear Vinnie play incredible double bass stuff.

Yes, it's not incredible, but it is fast (for Megadeth...). I must admit this is kinda sloppy, anyway. Perhaps it would have been better with a triggered bass drum, but i know that Dave Mustaine (the leader of the band) is against that and prefers a real acoustic sound.

Vinnie does have great feet, particularly the 1 foot/1 hand phrases, or his hihat (w/ foot) work is just off the wall. Which is stuff you hear him play, you never hear him play any crazy complex flam figures on the double kick. My guess is it's not that he couldn't, or anyone couldn't for that matter, it just has such limited musical application it's not worth putting the time into.

I've never heard any drummer play shirely murphy's or pataflafla's, or really any kind of complex flam figures at speed - ever. Virgil and Lang got the doubles down, and there's a few metal guys with just unreal singles. The closest I can think of would be Grant Collins 'Wilcoxon's 144th' which has a few flam taps in it.
