I like the idea behind the recording, but having the bass play the vocal lines makes it a bit rough to listen to for me. Good playing all around though!

Wow, Vinnie is pretty big in the "lets make a cover record with some great fusion guys"- business.

Yea, you know, don't forget the other 2,500+ albums he's recorded on....

wow, sorry to have hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to make fun of Vinnie, more of the artists who make all those tribute records.
Let's relax a bit.

What Vinnie does at 1:50 on the first track "Fire" is nuts. Subdivision in 7 with the double bass drum.

I doubt that's the way he looks at it. He probably just got a call, was told about when and what the session was, that they'll meet his rates, he checked his calender and committed to the session.
It's not like he's picking "fusion sessions" over other ones, dig?
Got Blushda?

Re: Vinnie and Bromberg
Again, i was not making fun of Vinnie. How come everyone thinks that?
I know how hiring someone for a session works, I know he is session guy and he got called to do that CD because he is one of the best and already played on other Bromberg CDs.
Maybe if I phrase it differently.
Wow, everyone who is recording a "take a rock artist and make it smooth-jazz,fusion" tribute CD seems to hire Vinnie.
Is that better?
P.S.
Listened to it and have to say that all the roughness and energy that the original have is gone and replaced by wankery. Even Vinnie can't fix that.
Sorry. Am a huge Vinnie Fan and hate being so negative because I think this forum has enough of that , but come on, do you guys really think this is that great?
