Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?

Postby gutenberg » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:56 pm

Vinnie is no longer listed on the Gretsch site on the Artist Roster and his Signature kit no longer available. Likewise, the Gretsch link has been removed from his website. I wonder what happened and where he's going...?

My guess would be his contract was up. He wasn't happy with whatever terms were presented for him to re-sign. Despite what some people may think, major level endorsement is about money and obligations. Vinnie can play anything he wants, it's who is going to offer the sweeter deal to sign with that wins.

Where he goes though is another question... I'd put money on Yamaha. DW has lots of cash though, that would be just a damn shame if he signed with them.

That would be pretty funny.

"Vinnie, you're the biggest name in drums. To renew your contract with us, we need you to do some clinics dates."
"No. In fact just for asking, I'll be switching to a different company. Is that a video camera?!?!!"

Or maybe he just got sick playing crappy Keller shells.

Weird that they still show his signature snare on their website, but not the full kit.

Brady can't handle the support level. That's definitely not it.

It has to be one of the major players, they are the only ones that can support that level of playing. I doubt Vince would go out of pocket for a given brand.
