I really wonder how he gets that signature snare sound!?[/quote]
Many years ago, their soundman told a friend and we tried it- Take the Supra, Put a CS coated black dot on top- put an EMPORER clear on the bottom with a 40 strand snare. Tune em up! "Coink!!" there it is!
David Lee ROth w/ VH again?
Re: David Lee ROth w/ VH again?
Thanks Jay. Emperor clear on the bottom? Hmm, who would have thought?
I just find his sound so refreshingly original and just "his", which I very much cherish especially in this day and age.

He uses pretty big and long sticks too.

Loving the new record!!! I wasn't expecting much, but VH is back!
Re: David Lee ROth w/ VH again?
I'm with Jeremy on this. Eddie is ferocious on the new record. Roth isn't as impressive, but his performance is growin on me. The band is smokin with plenty of attitude. If you dig VH, you won't realize how much you missed THAT SOUND!

I'm digging it! A few of the songs are actually demos/live songs they did before hitting big, but they sound great today. Between this one and Skysaw (Jimmy Chamberlin's new band) Great Civilizations, I finally have some new music to enjoy.

Loving the new album, Roth has his sense of humour, Eddie is doing his thing always moving in the background, Wolfy is doing fine filling up all the bottom and Alex is sounding great, songs will grow on you and before you know it they're looking like your summer soundtrack............... top down, hit the road.....ease the seat back!

Anybody else find it weird that the signature snare drum with his name on was a wood drum?
