Whitney and the powder

Postby Pocketplayer » Thu Mar 22, 2012 6:09 pm

It seems cocaine was a major part of her death.
Reminded me of Jeff's passing and complications.

She had way too many chances, and way too much information and assistance at her disposal to get any sympathy from me whatsoever. The world is a better place now. Plus the oprah half of the world owes Bobby Brown a major apology. He got blamed for so many years. She did this to herself.

I'm not so much in the know to support the underlined part but the rest is certainly true...

DooooD...harsh, no borderline evil comment. To say this lacks human dignity at the highest level.
Do yourself a favor...delete that ASAP. Addiction is harsh...unless you walked in her shoes, then
have sympathy. I agree, she had opportunities most do not. Addiction does not use the rational
part of the brain. Hate the sin, love the sinner. Take the log out of your own eye. But by the
grace of God go you...starting to make sense? All men fall short...and that means you and I.

There are certain comments that cause one to have no more credibility, and that was one of them!

I certainly hope your life doesn't have to crash hard to understand these comments...but there will
be a day when you will find yourself on a slippery slope. In that time, the love of others will be
that which makes all the difference to you.

...officially off soap box now

Well said Pocket Player. When i was straight edge in my youth, I used to have these type of views. I had no empathy for addictions and other types of human nature. Time = growth, which = clarity and humility.

Wow, PocketPlayer, that's deep.

I hope Circh Bustom's comment is being taken the wrong way.

In my limited experience, it seems there are many types of addictions, and many ways of becoming addicted.

I think often it starts as a 'temporary' fix to alleviate great pain, fear or anguish, and once it gains hold, becomes a problem in itself.

My wife used to work in a small convenience store in a rough neighborhood in North Richmond, California, where crack cocaine, heroine and alcohol addiction were rampant. She related to me that when her customers would come in daily for their preferred alcoholic beverage, she could see that something terrible had happened in their lives. It was also heartbreaking for her to see single mothers not able to feed their children because of their crack addictions.

I think Neil Young had a very loving and sympathetic take on it:
