I always wind up commenting on this thread.

For me: that Planet X stuff shakes the ground.
He thinks on another ground. That's all. Many
thought the same way about Tony and Billy for
years and years and people are still coming
round to what they did and not just recently but
earlier in their careers.

No. Virgil's cut real valleys and worth traveling.

Regards,

Pete

Let me tell you, I saw some of the rehearsal footage of OTV. MAN!
If the other guys approve of it, Virgil will be airing it soon. There should
also be some more official (pro or semi pro shot) footage of the actual shows on the way.
I´ll update this thread then, of course.

Noticed them playing "Fred", as well...... Virg does great with the feel, but when he goes into his beat-displacment stuff, it just totally takes the wind out of the groove, until he starts up the groove again. This wasn't such a problem with "Letters Of Marque", since the time is more shifting on that one.

But I always love Jimmy Haslip...... monster.

Man, I don't think there's anyone better than Virgil in terms of technical skill...there's a few who are at his level, but no one beyond his level, if you know what I mean.

Not the biggest fan of his musical choices....but whatever, he's still awesome!

Damn, their bloody rehearsal room is better equipped than probably any of the venues we've played so far. Does anybody know if a new OTV is coming out anytime soon? I can't say that I follow what Virgil is up to nowadays as I used to. I kinda lost interest just before the Seven Tha Hardway news. It always puzzles me that a musician of his caliber can't get beyond stuff like STH or Terminal or Kiko Loureiro, which are just so terrible.

There are no new OTV releases on the way but there are 2 new Virgil solo albums in the pipeline.
While I am not a SHT fan I enjoy listening to the Kiko Loureiro album actually.

Just because you are pushing technical and conceptual boundaries doesn't mean you are
popular in a broader term of the word. Many confuse those concepts. It isn't the best
singers in the world who win tv reality shows.

I think it's very positive to see Virgil tour extensively with Holdsworth and continue to
do his own stuff too.
