They sounded sub-par for starters.
Who's left? DW, Tama, Pearl, Sakae? Back to Yamaha?
Also what weight does one's word hold on products if you keep switching?

Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
The day he decided to not play Yamaha anymore and started playing Gretsch, he's already played the top two IMO.
If those two don't work for him, those Ludwigs seemed like a stange choice to me and to move on now, there aren't that many big companies left.
Maybe he'll finally just dump endorsements all together, switch it up and use whatever he wants like the rest of us can. He could probably pull that off if he wanted to.
Just get those signature sticks out again. That's the only thing I personally worry about. I love those sticks. Nothing like them. Then he can have his Yammy Monday, Gretsch Tuesday, Ludwig Wednesday and so on. Who cares? Just give me my sticks. They can put my name on them instead, if they want to..gif)

The whole moving to Ludwig and Paiste was really just an April fools joke/negoitiation tactic.
He's still with Gretsch and Zildjian.

Maybe he'll do what he should've done long ago and go to Sonor.
Either that or back to Yamaha, or parallel move to Sakae.

He's going to take his time and experiment for a while.
Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
Well, I'm sure he still plays Gretsch on studio, otherwise let's see, he can take his time, he needs GREAT hardware.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...
Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
I never liked his sound on the Ludwigs or the Paistes - his sound, for me, was Gretsch and Zildjian. Yamaha is a close 2nd.
I don't see how he could go back to Gretsch, that would be weird PR, but I would understand why. I think Sakae is still too small for him. I really don't know what it'll be. I don't see Sonor - the reason Thomas Lang left was because it was hard to get kits from them all over. Who knows what kind of transition Yamaha is going through - not a fan of the Live Customs either from what I've heard on youtube vids - but, they are definitely big enough to support. I could see him going to Yamaha before Gretsch. I can hear the marketing PR now "I came home to my sound". haha..gif)

Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
I don't care *what* he plays but this looks bad for both Ludwig and Vinnie.
Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
Why for Vinnie ? People hire Vinnie for HIM, not for the brand he plays...
He's a musician first, one of the best ever seen behind a drum, whatever the brand played, producers want Vinnie, whatever what drum he gonna use, don't you think so ?
