Gary! Gary! Gary!
Meeting him at Space in Evanston
just before the surgeries was such
the thrill for me.
He and the guys were so encouraging
and as beautiful a people as they are
players. I cannot say enough about
him. He is the top.
Regards,
Pete
PS: That was a cool Fred tribute, too!!
He made it his like everything else.

Re: Holdsworth Haslip Husband
Gary is one of the most pleasant and easy going geniuses I've met in my life.

Every clip of Gary I've seen has at least one "wow that was genius!" moments.

Would be great to see this band in Seattle at Jazz Alley.

Re: Holdsworth Haslip Husband
super-late chime in, but i caught this gig here in nyc and it was stupendous. i agree with whomever said the thing about the holdsworth/husband interplay. it's perfect. i always find that the two of them are so completely in the moment and willing to take risks ALL NIGHT LONG. gary has this great snare sound i love--i find it akin to the sound of a pancake being flipped and falling the in the pan, just a million times louder.
the whole gig was loud as fuck. i'd never seen haslip live and was floored. i'm not sure how much rehearsal they had a chance for, but it was clear they were all reading off each other and the result was wholly inspired. i wish gary would play stateside more often. his playing inspires me on the deepest levels.
