Exactly Paul...the Rod Serling/Pierre Boulle combo was powerful.
Bridge on the River Kwai & Planet are deep movies. Planet overwhelmed
with the stellar make-up of 'ape people', but the message beneath the
surface is as relevant today as it was in '68. Suppress evidential truth
to protect an ideology. Seeing the home movies of the cave being blown
up was really cool. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is amazing to just listen to.
It was the first time I heard "roto toms" or high pitched toms played against
those piano rolls of suspense. It must be the 'drum hardwiring' because as
blown away I was seeing this movie, the drum sounds made a similar impact on me.
There's some real nice subtle snare work on the score as well.
Nice interview on this session;

who cares...this is life changing drum sound in a movie!!! Man...this is deep for me!
Back to Planet of the Apes...@46:15 LOVE THIS...this was me as a kid hitting the
white panels in the frozen food section of the grocery store...Ziiiing over and over
again until my mom asked for the grocery manager to use the store PA..."Will Joey
come to the front of the store!"

Greg Bissonette must have provided his voice for these commercials. Sounds just like him.

Yes! I wanted to ask about this a few months back but couldn't find the commercial on YouTube. That has GOT to be Greg.

Wow, I'd never heard Bissonette talk but you guys are spot on, he sounds exactly like in that ad. He's probably the session drummer in that video and the voiceover. Anyway, check out this interview, he's hilarious! Talking about singers thinking everything is too fast or slow, why people want to play jazz, and how much longer he'll be playing for.

No drums no life, know drums know life...

Gavin is on the new album coming out. Sounds great. I pick anything and everything he's on. His FB page keeps us all informed. Would like to hear some new Porcupine Tree material. Might have to wait 8 more years it they will give it another go.

Greg works with my buddy who directs voice work...he's the voice of a very
popular character from Winnie the Pooh. He was at a Disney session my friend
was directing and when Greg said something he told everyone to stop talking.
Then said, "You, drummer...say something." Greg talked and he said, "YES...
I've been looking for that voice for Winnie the Pooh!" I forgot exactly what
character he plays.
