Morg...the 16th note pulse Jeff lays down on this video is what Jeff seemed
to live for. I get the feeling he could JUST play time like this all day long.
Because of it, he was rock solid and so inside what most would call a
"simple" groove. But that was the magic of Jeff and those cats...his FEEL
is what brings me back...I never get tired of it which is why Kaide appeals to
me so much. This could be a drum machine right? A loop? But the human
element is alive!!! That said, I didn't hear a lot of Stop Loving You in this
jam. Very different feel on the record. Jeff and Paich really LOCKED even
more than his bro Steve...this reminds me of that plastic record MD tune for
Paiste cymbals Jeff and David put out in the early 80's.

Never saw these one before...

A masterclass in everything here...time, groove, feel, sound.
Such a powerful song...plays like a movie. Jeff's hat work just
loops around the groove like nothing else. There is so much
vulnerability in this song. For me, this is one of those songs where
you either totally get it, or do not. One that divides camps.

I had heard a while back that this could be "in the works," but I'm glad to see it has been realized.

The Montreux 1991 Toto concert has been officially released!!!!!!

Luke and Niko Bolas did a wonderful job on getting this as good as it could be, based on what they had to work with. Please don't get me wrong, the final result is GREAT!!!! But from what I heard, the source material wasn't "great." So with Niko's genius they really made something out of what they had to work with.

But there is NOTHING that should make anyone who is a fan of the band or Jeff not buy this. The few glitches that might be present are not enough to make you forget that you are watching some of the baddest cats playing some GREAT music!!!!

I believe this is the last time the band played live together with Jeff (I might be wrong.) But the band sounds FANTASTIC. And Jeffery, well what can be said? GROOVE MEISTER SUPREME!!! He is groovin his ass off, and clearly having a BALL (everyone is!)

They did this gig WHILE they were working on "Kingdom of Desire" (what a GREAT record!) So it serves as a cool insight to that recording. It's so bittersweet to see Mikey and Jeff groovin, smiling, and laughing, but they left us a lot of great music to groove on. And now there is this.

I'm am so happy that the Montreux people made this available to be released, now lets hope Sony will follow suit with the 1990 Paris footage for an "official" DVD release.

After all the work that went into this, I hope it doesn't end up on youtube in a month. This DVD is SOOOOO much better than the footage of this show that I have seen elsewhere, it's a MUST BUY!!!!

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, so I figured that I would mention it on "the Jeff thread."

OK I've raved enough, BUY IT!!!!!
