Wow, Shannon nails some of these fills of Jeff's note for note. Pamela is one of those songs I went deep with around 1990 :)

Hey guys, I saw Toto in my town, Bordeaux/France, end of January, it was really great !!!
It was a really great show, 1st time since Jeff's passing I have the Toto's vibe back, it sounded like "Farenheit" or "The Seventh One".

Shannon just KILLED that shit, and lovely guy of course, he plays right now an old Gretsch drum with 3 Brady snare, I'm still thinking about the great vibe of that show, that Jeff's feeling, Shannon has it no joke !!!
What a team with the great Lenny Castro on percussion and Lee Sklar on bass, yeah baby.

This is the show I was, I was pretty close of the stage, singing all night long, I hope to see them one more time before they stop touring !!!

And what about Steve Porcaro, I'm fan of the way he moves on stage, the way his body feels the music, intense like a Porcaro.

My new favorite song right now :

I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

What Shannon does so well is play the original grooves with the Porcaro subtly.
This is seen on Pamela with the jazz shuffle hat feel and his 16ths...when you
watch a drummer like Herman Matthews play an 8th note or 16th note groove,
his feel on the hats in amazing. His nuance, his attention to this core sound source.
He play less but it sounds MORE! Jeff had this quality as well.

Langmick's comments are spot on!
Dig his fills, deceptively simple yet powerful and to the point, like Porcaro.

Tony's and Alan White's rubbery time feels make me lose my mind, what Porcaro
does to solid time is ridiculous. But it seems like the songs where he does some extra
crazy creative stuff, even if somewhat simple, where he really shines.

Gotta give kudos to Sklar for learning the set so quickly like Omar did with Journey.

Luke looks better than he has in years! Only TOTO can go from rockin' to Isolation then shift into
R&B Georgy gear. Like the Eagles vocally, TOTO has too much talent! When you can authentically
play so many feels you can lose identity. Pop audience gets confused. Change lead singer and go
in a very different direction after a Grammy run and you lose an audience. The name says it all
I guess...TOTO: an amalgamation of styles. Most in America now only know it as a toilet. I do dig
however taking a piss in a public TOTO toilet. Pick a song for the 30 seconds and hum away!

I have departed from pics of Shannon's kit. Jenny is HOT.

Shannon will join TOTO for their announced 2017 dates called 'and evening with'.

That's awesome. Love him with TOTO. 8-)

I believe they haven't really been popular at home for a long long time.

It's Japan and certain parts of Europe and they attract a lot of musicians.

The certainly have a history around here and have even played some free outdoor shows.

True, but we're touching on the cruise ship tribute of themselves thing here. It's not the same. The US audience is not a major contributor to Toto's income.Hasn't been for 30 years. It's also a common theme in older band interviews and interviews with Luke over these last 20 years.

Not being able to put them in a box, as previously mentioned, is a part of that.

They could come to our little nation and fill our biggest venue several times, easily.

They attract many old fans for sure. Some young fans, too. But musicians talk about this general music loving audience all the time, which is also why a good many American jazz musicians mainly tour and even move to Europe.
